* Organize Vocabulary: Word Spiders

Objectives
- Focus on a learning strategy: How to learn vocabulary

Descritption
At the end of the lesson, students have to complete differet task to know "What do you know about...?".
Pupils have to organize vocabulary with [[#|word]] spiders like this ( in this case I use these topics because during the unit we have worked it)
These kind of activities can be include in an English Learning Portfolio, which is a good way to know how language learning happens and how it can be improved
Assessment
This kind of tasks are self-assessment. This process develops pupils awareness of their own abilities and teaches them how to assess themselves.

Thanks for this Marisa!

I think Spiders are great to organise words. I also use them to study grammar, plan compositions and prepare oral expositions.

I can share this with you

Thanks Marisa, Yes, I agree it's a great way of self-assessment! I also use it in my English lessons:)

Hi Marisa,
I don't use [[#|word]] spiders at all but they're a great way to revise vocabulary, grammar, structures, chunks of language... I should make an effort to use them in class. And the link Nuria provides is great. Everything is explained there and it gives you a lot of insight.

I'm back again. I teach my students of German to make mind and concept maps to revise vocabulary or summarise lessons and they work very well. Here you have one.

However, I have rarely used them in English. I wonder why not. I will try to incorporate them next course.
