Activity: Puzzle reading
Level: Any
Short description: It is a very traditional activity but still works. Divide the Ss in groups of three or four depending on the parts of the reading you want to make. Each group of Ss will have a part of the story. They work out the meaning, vocabulary, etc and then reagroup so as each Ss in the new group knows a part. By telling the others they build up the whole story together. In this activity the also practise speaking and even writing if you tell them to write up the story. In the end you make them read the actual text.
Objectives: To enjoy reading in a diferent way.
Assessment: An exam or a rubrica

It is a deja vu, I know, but reading is not usually attractive for Ss so they can approach reading in a new perspective. You can preteach vocabulary, and do some warming up if there are pics of the reading.

I like this kind of activities a lot, and I do not think they are déjà vu! This is collaborative work, and it is wonderful. Last but not least, students usually love this kind of activities!

Sometimes the traditional and simple activities are the best ones to improve our language skills!!!

I think it's a wonderful way to get your students to read a text carefully. In this way they go over the information three or four times in different forms.

A must-have for any teacher's resource pack!!!! And the variations are endless: using texts from the textbook, newspaper articles, dialogues, song lyrics, etc.

Yes, anything, and it also allows you to bring authentic materials into the classroom, things which your students might be interested in and are relevant to their experience and motivations.

Completely agree! Sometimes the simple, the best!
